February ’14–Valentines Month, Part I

Greetings. I have good news. And yes, it’s about me. But I think you’ll like it. No–love it! It is the month of St. Valentine, after all.

I am thrilled to find out that, Saturday night, Feb. 8, at The Neutral Ground, not only am I playing between the Shiz and the Fens, to top it all off, the lovely and mindbendingly talented Alexandra Scott is playing at 11. And yes, she will be playing songs from her new CD, I Love You So Much Always.

This coming Monday night, February 10, I’ll be back at the Neutral Ground as part of a wonderful tribute to truly one of a very few musical North Stars in my life, Mr. Pete Seeger (1919-2014). I’m psyched to get to sing some of my favorites of his, songs that may not be as well known as some of his “hits.” This reminds of how I got turned on to Pete’s music: I was 11, and my dad brought home an LP called Pete Seeger’s Greatest Hits. I’ll be singing songs that aren’t on that record.

I am beyond thrilled to be coming back to play the Calmes House Concert in Baton Rouge next Saturday, Feb. 15. If you haven’t made it to one of these concerts, they’re well worth checking out. The address is 11143 Lazy Lake Drive, in Central (70818). There are still plenty of seats available. Doors open at 6. Show starts at 7, and there’s a suggested donation of $10. I’ll have at least a couple new ones to play for you.

Oh–and one other thing on Feb. 15? This is not a typo. I will be hosting the jam at Joie de Vivre in Breaux Bridge that morning, starting at 11 am.
