Back home! Fall 2014 approaches…

I’m back from a busy summer of touring, and I’ve got some new shows to report. Let’s start with September…

Gina Forsyth Update–September 2014

Well, after yet another magical–and busy–summer, most of it on the road, once again, it’s been hard to get back to being home and settle in for the fall, but here I am, back at it. And, yes, I have a new gig–or four–to tell you about. And that’s only this weekend.

Three of them are this Saturday, September 13.

The first is called Downriver: Mighty Mississippi River Fest, and it’s at the Mint. We’re playing songs from the CD released last year by the National Park Service called Songs of the Mississippi. This is with Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes, Matt Hampsey, et al., and it starts at 11 am.

The second is at Cafe Istanbul, with Cameron Dupuy, and all the Cajun Troubadours, starts at 4 pm, and it’s a Cajun Festival for a worthy cause. The Catholic Worker helps to find affordable housing and work for those who are homeless or on the edge. I will also be hosting a jam later that afternoon. There’s a $10 suggested donation to get in, a $5 buffet, and all proceeds go to St. Thomas Hospitality House.

The last show this Saturday will be a return to the Neutral Ground, after two months absence–after The Shiz, who are playing from 7-9 pm, and before Sneaky Pete & the Fens, who are on at 10.

Thursday, 9/25, I’m back in Breaux Bridge, playing a special Thursday night show of traditional Cajun music, with Jonno Frishberg, et al. at Joie de Vivre Cafe.

And Saturday, 9/27, I will be playing fiddle tunes at the Marsolan Feed Store in Covington, with Jon “Brillo” Kashner.

I will soon be updating my website for lots upcoming gigs, from this fall, into 2015. You will be able to find it all at: www.ginaforsyth.com

Speaking of which–I said this a while back, but it’s worth repeating–if you’ve looked at my website lately, you know that it’s been revamped, chock full of songs and videos. All of this is due thanks to the good folks at www.bandpak.com. They’re new, they’re local, and they do great work.
