IN THE CORNER OF THE ROOM

by Gina Forsyth (1984)

Lulla lu no more you say now
Listen to the voice
The voice of the angels
I'm only here listening with you
To their lullaby

Coming from the distant highway
Silently among us
Softly their voices
In the hum of the diesels that hum
And pull Away from sight
Fading away in the lonesome night

Hear the song
And sleep in gladness
Morning will awaken
To a world full of sadness
Now you don't know it
But all of these and more
Someday will be yours

Doors connect the rooms of our lives
Every one before you
May close up in your life
And somewhere in the far off
Corner of the room
There's another door
In the corner of the room
That you still can't see

The lullaby the night replaces
All you really hearing
Is the song of the ages
And all must listen
To the sound that's been heard
Time and time before

The gate may close
The dream be broken
Forget about the door
That is no longer open

Know that every big wide
Room in the world
Has another door
In the corner of the room
That you still can't see
