- Ken Gaines
Not only is Ken a terrific fingerstyle guitarist and
singer/songwriter, he has the most exhaustive list of links for
singer/songwriters of anyone I know. If you can't find a
singer/songwriter, try looking it up in Ken's site; you just
might find it there. Ken is originally from the Mississippi Gulf
Coast, but is a longtime mainstay of the Houston acoustic scene.
With sidekick and ace guitarist Wayne Wilkerson, Ken hosts the
Thursday evening writers nights at Anderson
Fair.

He's known to some for his songs about baseball
players—namely, some of the lesser-known characters that
graced baseball lore (for example, Moe Berg, the utility catcher
who was also a spy for the U.S. in the 1930's and 40's)—but
his work is so much more than that.

This is one of my favorite sites. Insightful stuff from a guy
who is the guitarist with Steve Riley and the Mamou
Playboys and a terrific songwriter. Check out "Angel of
